Created by revisiting the scientific fundamentals of what a back protector should do, the new VPD Max Vest works to give a sense of complete trust in your own ability to move and turn exactly as you need in every situation.

Developing the principle of using cylinders of protective material first seen in our VPD System knee pads, the new VPD protector was developed with polymer specialists Norsorex and features columns of VPD moulded to both sides of a fabric base to give more flexibility and softness than is possible with a traditional foam protector. The columns still harden or deform as required to absorb and dissipate any impact forces.

The hollow cylindrical columns maintain the highest impact protection properties, and are certified to EN1621-2, Level 2 standards. 

The shape and spacing of the columns from one another allows for good airflow around the vest, helping keep you comfortable and preventing overheating. The vest is constructed from an elasticated lightweight mesh fabric, giving exceptional airflow, breathability and durability.

VPD Columns
Using a new style of VPD material, the back protector features hollow cylindrical columns moulded to a robust textile base, giving immense structural strength and flexibility.

Certified protector
The protector meets the EN 1621-2, Level 2 certification level—the highest level of protection.

Made for the cold
The highly flexible cylindrical VPD structure moulded to fabric makes the vest particularly flexible in extreme cold, and does not become rigid in the same way as traditional foam protectors.

Lightweight
The complete vest is lightweight and it's easy to forget you are wearing it once you put it on.

Shaped for comfort
Both the cut of the vest and the shape of the backplate are optimised for absolute comfort and security, with no impact on freedom of movement.

Waistband free
The malleability and support in the material means there is no need for a waistband.

Quick-drying
The vest is constructed from a lightweight and highly durable recycled polyamide/elastane mesh with 4-way stretch, offering exceptional wicking properties. It is also quick to dry.

Easily packable
The highly flexible protector makes it easy to roll up or fold the back protector for easy packing and travel. It can even safely be left rolled up in a car overnight and worn straight away, without needing to thaw.
